Clarksville Middle Physical Education
Mr. J. Taylor, Mrs. A. Taylor, Mrs. Vo & Mr. Madden
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
As a new year begins we would like to welcome everyone to our PE program and remind you about the importance of lifelong physical fitness. Physical activity in school starts the building blocks for a lifetime of fitness. Our curriculum has 4 content themes: fitness, individual performance, lifetime activities, games/sports and dance/rhythm. Our 50 minute classes will be every other day, all year. Some days will be fitness based, while others are sport based. Your child appears on a certain teacher’s roster, but will rotate through the other teachers throughout the year.
Your child’s grades will be based on their participation, their uniform/dressing and their written work. Below is an explanation of each category.
Participation – Taking part in class activities and workouts while following directions and trying his or her best. If your child is injured you can excuse him/her for 3 consecutive days; after that a doctor’s note is required. Excused students will earn their participation by completing written assignments if they are in class, but not physically participating.
Uniform/Dressing – Having a uniform, tennis shoes (appropriate for activity) and hair out of his or her face. On several occasions this also means having sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, gloves or compression shorts/leggings depending on the weather or activity.
Written Work – Bringing a composition book and a pen or pencil everyday to class and keeping accurate records of workouts and fitness tests.
What You Need Everyday For PE
· Gym uniform
· Tennis shoes
· Composition Book
· Pen or pencil
· Combination lock
· Hair back/out of your face
We look forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
Mr. J. Taylor, Mrs. A. Taylor, Mrs. Vo and Mr. Madden
